De-risking the project before it starts
00:06
I think what is very different at Genioo is the fact that, as an executive, what you don't want is to start a project not knowing if you will succeed. So what we have done is we have developed a way that helps you to make sure, before you start a project, that it's going to be worth it and you will succeed. And that's a big difference, because with most other consultancies you have to start a project not knowing whether it will succeed or not.
00:35
The way we do that is we over-invest in the preparation work. We want to understand what you really want to achieve. We talk to you and we really extract your vision, so you can see your vision in front of yourself and confirm: this is exactly what I want. I want this.
00:52
And then, when we understand your vision, we really map out the obstacles that you will have to overcome to realize that vision. Obstacles are the reason why projects fail, and usually obstacles are not understood. So we spend a lot of time, together with you, to identify the obstacles. You know some, we know some, your team knows some. So we make an exhaustive list of these obstacles, and then we really think about what each obstacle needs in order to be removed.
01:22
By doing all of these things, you de facto de-risk the project entirely, because before you start, you already know: I'm going to get exactly what I want, I have a great understanding of the very reasons it could fail, and I feel comfortable that we have ways to remove these obstacles. That's a very different approach to a project. That's the first thing that is different, before we start.
Putting your people in charge
01:44
What is different after is that we don't do it for you, because you really want your people to own as much as they can. And for them to own it, they need to lead from the beginning. So we have a philosophy that we put your people in charge as much as they can, but we enable them, because most of the time they will lack some time or maybe some skills. So we provide you with something that complements your team, and gradually we will reduce our support as your team is more and more able to do it.
02:14
So in the end, it leaves you with something that works in reality. It leaves you with a team that is engaged, because they did it, it's theirs, so they want to work with it. They really helped shape it. And you obviously see the results, and that's why you started the project in the first place.
